By Air,

On leaving the airport, turn right towards Kirkwall (A960). Drive into Kirkwall and take a left turn down the ‘Clay Loan’. This is the 2nd turning after you pass the Bignold Park gates on the right hand side. At the bottom of the hill, turn left then take the next right turn onto the Orphir road (A964). After approx 3.5 miles look for a sign on the left side of the road saying ‘Owlswood Lodge ‘. The Lodge lies lower than the road on the left hand side and you have to pass it before you come to the sign.  On leaving the main road, there is a short drive which forks off to the left. Our house -South Greenigoe is on the right. You should see the gates of Owlswood   Lodge in front of you.  Total journey is approximately 7 miles.

By Ferry - Kirkwall/Aberdeen Boat,

On leaving the ferry terminal, turn left heading towards Kirkwall. You will come to a small roundabout where you go straight through following the signs for Deerness (A960) and St Margaret’s Hope (A961). As you drive along this road you will see Somerfield and Lidl on your right. At the next mini roundabout turn right  then just opposite the Catholic Church turn right again onto the A964- Orphir road  After approx 3.5 miles look for a sign on the left side of the road saying ‘Owlswood Lodge ‘ . The Lodge lies lower than the road on the left hand side and you have to pass it before you come to the sign.  On leaving the main road, there is a short drive which forks off to the left. Our house -South Greenigoe is on the right. You should see the gates of Owlswood   Lodge in front of you.  Total journey is approximately 5.5 miles.

By Ferry - Stromness/Scrabster Boat,

On leaving the Ferry Terminal turn right and head out of Stromness on the A 965 towards Kirkwall. After approx 3 miles turn right onto the A964 – Orphir road. Stay on this road for approx 3 miles then turn left onto the Scorradale road. This road goes up and over the hill. At the bottom turn left onto the main A964 road towards Orphir village. In the village you will pass the Orphir Church, Noust Bar and school.   Continue on this road for another 2 miles and you will pass Waulkmill Bay on the right side. The next land mark is Hobbister Brae – a long slow climb for approx 1 mile. At the top of the brae there are a cluster of houses. Owlswood Lodge is second on the right. There is a sign on the road side on the right after the first house .The Lodge lies lower than the road. Leave the main road and turn into the drive, bearing down to the Left. You will now see the gates of Owlswood Lodge in front of you. The total journey is approx 13.5 miles.

By Ferry - St Margaret’s Hope / Gills Bay,

On leaving the boat drive into the village and follow the signs for Kirkwall.  The 14 mile drive to Kirkwall will take you over 3 of the Churchill barriers and you will cross over 3 islands (Burray, Glimps Holm and Lamb’s Holm) Follow the A 961 into Kirkwall. Just after passing the Highland Park Distillery on your right you follow the road down the hill into the town centre. Immediately before the Catholic Church on the right hand side you take a sharp left onto the A 964 – Orphir Road. After approx 3.5 miles look for a sign on the left side of the road saying ‘Owlswood Lodge ‘. The Lodge lies lower than the road on the left hand side and you have to pass it before you come to the sign.  On leaving the main road, there is a short drive which forks off to the left. Our house -South Greenigoe is on the right. You should see the gates of Owlswood   Lodge in front of you.  Total journey is approximately 18miles.
